Careers

A political economy degree in the Department of Political Science gives you a broad range of skills ranging from economic ‘literacy’ to the analytical, writing, and presentational skills you need to lead where others merely learn to follow.

This intensive Political Economy programme permits graduates to successfully compete with management, public policy, and economics-trained students for relevant jobs in ministries, think-tanks or consultancy, companies, municipalities, international organisations, and the media. There is thus strong demand in the society at large for the training we offer. There is little that a good political economist cannot do. At their graduation ceremony in October 2017 a number of our first-year alumni took the time to inform us they had already found jobs or trainee-intern positions with the Ministry of Finance (NL), in executive search, risk management consultancy, and the high-tech recycling industry. We wish them all success and fulfilment in their future careers.
