If you do not meet the entry requirements above, for example if you have a relevant degree from a Dutch University of Applied Sciences (HBO) or an equivalent thereof, you can eliminate your deficiencies by completing the pre-Master’s programme Media Studies.

New Master's students should be able to speak, read, write and understand English at an advanced academic level. Please check carefully whether you already meet the English language requirements or whether you need to arrange to take an official English language test. After enrolling in Studielink, you will automatically receive an email with a link to your MyInfo UvA application form. To log in to MyInfo you need your UvAnetID. Please fill out the application form, upload the required documents and submit your MyInfo application form before the application deadline.
It is essential that you submit a complete application dossier, including (if applicable) proof of English language proficiency.
All applicants holding a nationality outside the EU/EEA are required to pay an application fee of €100 per Studielink enrolment before submitting your MyInfo application form. You will find payment instructions on your application form.
As part of your application in MyInfo, you are required to upload transcripts, diplomas, a motivation form (PDF), a CV/resume, and proof of English language proficiency. This programme does not require a programme-specific document.

If you have a practically oriented prior education in Media Studies, you are recommended to show that you have strong English academic writing skills by submitting a writing sample. This could be a Bachelor’s thesis or a paper from a course. This paper should demonstrate academic skills such as source reference, correct representation of literature, and the ability to set up a argumentation structure. It should be written in English, preferably with a subject from media and culture or media and information.
Furthermore, please indicate in the motivation form which subjects you see as a suitable background for the Master's programme. This could be for instance course descriptions, relevant work experience or extra curricualar activities.
Once we have received your complete application, it will be evaluated by our Admissions Board. This programme offers rolling admissions, meaning you will receive an admission decision within 10 to 12 weeks. It is therefore advisable to complete your application well before the deadline.
If you are admitted to the programme, you will receive a letter of conditional acceptance. In order to proceed with your enrolment, you must accept this offer at your earliest convenience.
