Graduates of the Research Master’s in International Development Studies will be qualified to apply for jobs in both the academic world and research-oriented institutions. The programme provides an excellent foundation for pursuing a PhD in relevant fields. It also prepares students for positions in applied or policy research in multinational organisations, research institutes, consultancy firms and governmental agencies.
The Research Master International Development Studies puts emphasis on training transferable skills. Transferable skills are skills that can be acquired and transferred to future employment, research or other settings. They include interpersonal, communication, organisational, networking, research and planning, and participation skills. In particular, we encourage our students to explore ways of communicating their knowledge to different groups of stakeholders.
You can make use of a wide variety of career tools and support from the UvA Student Careers Centre (SCC) during your studies. The SCC organises career events, workshops, training courses, as well as CV checks, interview practice sessions and much more.
