Research and collaboration

As a research-intensive university, the UvA attaches great importance to research and collaboration, not only within the University but also in society at large.

Knowledge valorisation

Knowledge valorisation refers to the utilisation of scientific knowledge in practice. Examples include developing a product or a medicine, or applying scientific knowledge to a system or process.

Business and industry

Businesses wishing to seek solutions together with UvA researchers for more concrete or less concrete issues are welcome to approach Innovation Exchange Amsterdam (IXA).

As the University’s main provider of grants, the government is keen to follow the results of government-funded projects and research.
Where knowledge developed by researchers is found suitable for product development in a new company-owned business, Innovation Exchange Amsterdam (IXA) assists researchers in setting up their own business.
