Those who are interested in the Master's programme Conservation and restoration are hereby invited to attend a special guided tour that will take place in the Atelier building. During this tour, you can get to know the various specialisations that are offered in this Master's. Students who are starting this Master's in 2020-2021 can choose one of the following specialisations: Book and Paper; Historic Interiors; Metals; Photography; Wood and Furniture.

The UvA Master's Conservation and Restoration of Cultural Heritage is giving you the opportunity to take part in a guided tour through the studios in the Atelier building, during which you will be able to see the students' ongoing restoration projects. You will also have the opportunity to ask questions about the content of the theoretical and practical aspects of the study programme, and you will be able to acquaint yourself with all of the specialisations.

IMPORTANT: Please make sure to bring an identification card. If you would like to bring someone with you, please register this person's name on the registration form. He/she has to bring an ID card as well. Due to strict security rules, it is not possible to enter the Atelier building without it.

Conservation and Restoration at the UvA

The UvA is the only Dutch university that offers a degree programme in restoration that meets the European standard. The programme starts with a two-year Master's in Conservation and Restoration of Cultural Heritage and offers nine specialisations as well as a track in Technical Art History. Every other year, half of the specialisations offer a new round of first-year classes. The specialisations Book and Paper; Historic Interiors; Metals; Photography; and Wood and Furniture will start in September 2020. The application deadline is 1 February 2020.

Atelier building

The Atelier building is a centre of restoration and conservation, scholarly endeavour, research, and training. The Atelier Building is a setting in which the Rijksmuseum, the Cultural Heritage Agency of the Netherlands (RCE), and the University of Amsterdam (UvA) pool their expertise in the field of the restoration and conservation of art objects.
