Contemporary Art Conservation Revisited: 20 Years Later

International hybrid conference

This international two-day symposium, Contemporary Art Conservation Revisited: 20 Years Later, celebrates the 20-year anniversary of the start of the training programme in the Bern Academy of the Arts in 1998, which is at the same time when also the programme in Maastricht had started at the SRAL, which later merged into the UvA’s programme Conservation and Restoration of Cultural Hertitage. The symposium will reflect on evolving roles and practices in the field.

UvA’s contemporary art conservator Sanneke Stigter, being from the first generation of trained conservators in contemporary art, is involved in the symposium in various ways. She is as advisor, moderator, and presenter, highlighting the background and developments in Contemporary Art conservation in the Netherlands, in collaboration with IJsbrand Hummelen, formerly from the Cultural Heritage Agency of the Netherlands. 

In addition, she is organizing the INCCA Speed Mentoring Session, an associated programme that provides a framework to facilitate early stage career and other professionals to meet-up with their preferred colleagues to talk about whatever they would like to discuss. Signing up is for delegates only and on a first-come first-served basis, so make sure to be in time.
