Marie Curie Fellowships awarded to three UvA researchers in the Humanities

Three talented researchers of the Faculty of Humanities have been awarded Marie Skłodowska-Curie Individual Fellowships to conduct their research. The fellowships are personal grants, which range from around €175,000 to €280,000 euros for each researcher, and are awarded to both promising and experienced researchers.
The recipients are:
- Alessandra Cianciosi (Amsterdam School of Historical Studies): Isolation and Segregation Landscape. Archaeology of Quarantine in the Indian Ocean World
- Gulnaz Sibgatullina (Amsterdam School for Regional, Transnational and European Studies): White Islam: A New Religion of the European Far Right
- Johana Kotišová (Amsterdam School for Cultural Analysis): Fixers, Stringers, and Foreign Crews: The distribution of Risks and Emotions in Crisis Reporting
thirteen UvA researchers were awarded a fellowship.
About the fellowships
The grants are made under the Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions, which form part of the European Union’s Horizon 2020 research and innovation programme. The fellowships are meant to stimulate the cross-border mobility of researchers both inside and outside the European Union.
There are two types of Individual Fellowships: European Fellowships and Global Fellowships. Alessandra Cianciosi and Gulnaz Sibgatullina have been awarded Global Fellowships. They will spend two years at universities outside the European Union and will then return for a final year at the UvA. Johana Kotišová has been awarded a European Fellowship, and will spend two years at the UvA.
