The fifth track in Biological Sciences has started in September 2023. Evolution of Behaviour and Mind researches the origins of behaviour and the mind of primates and other animals, from the integrative perspective of biology, psychology, anthropology, and other sciences. As there were many more applications for the first edition than the available 20 places, a selection was necessary.

The two-year track is for students who are interested in studying the behaviour of humans and other animals and the underlying motives from an evolutionary perspective, and who want to explore behaviour and mind from a comparative perspective.

This track builds on the internationally renowned research of the Institute of Biodiversity and Ecosystem Dynamics (IBED), the Psychology Research Institute (PRI) and the Center for Research in Experimental Economics and Political Decision Making (CREED) and is coordinated by Annemie Ploeger. This new track complements the other existing tracks within the Master Biological Sciences: ‘Green Life Science’, ‘Ecology and Evolution’, ‘Freshwater & Marine Biology’ and ‘General Biology’.
