Alan Muller has been appointed the new director of the Amsterdam MBA, starting 1 September 2011. He is currently an associate professor in International Strategic Management at the Amsterdam Business School (ABS).
Muller taught International Business at the University of Washington’s Michael G. Foster School of Business from 2008 to 2010, where he still holds an appointment. From 2005 to 2008 he was also an associate professor at the ABS.
Muller has received numerous awards for his research and was visiting researcher at both Simon Fraser University (Vancouver) in 2008 and the Hong Kong Baptist University in 2010. He obtained his doctorate from the Rotterdam School of Management (Erasmus University). Prior to this, he received his master’s degree in International Relations at the University of Amsterdam and his bachelor’s degree in History from the University of Washington. Alan Muller graduated with distinction in all of the abovementioned degree programmes. His current research focuses on the internal and external motivation of corporate social responsibility for organisations, primarily in an international context. His work has been published in various academic journals, such as Strategic Management Journal, Journal of Management Studies and the Journal of Business Ethics.
