Dutch language course

Dutch language course

Are you interested in learning Dutch and are you enrolled in a Bachelor’s or Master’s programme at UvA Economics and Business?

There are different options to give you the opportunity to maximise your Dutch experience and prepare for your future job in the Netherlands. Read the information carefully to decide which option is best for you. Please note that it's not possible to receive the reimbursement if you have been reimbursed by the faculty before.

I want to learn Dutch and:

  • I’m a Bachelor’s student at UvA Economics and Business

Before deciding which option is best for you, it’s important to determine what level you are on. You can read the description of the levels on the INTT website

Level A1-A2 (beginners, none to very limited knowledge)

Option 1: Take the elective course Dutch Language Skills 1a/1b course(s) for EC

UvA Economics and Business offers two courses: Dutch Language Skills 1a (6 EC) and/or Dutch Language Skills 1b (6EC). Register during the course registration period for these courses. An obligatory intake after registration checks if your level matches the course level. More information about this intake can be found in the Course Catalogue. The Dutch courses are seen as courses on the first year level, see general rules for electives

Option 2: Take a language course at INTT and get the fee reimbursed when passing the course

If the Dutch Language Skills courses 1a/1b do not fit your schedule or your level turns out to be too high during the intake, you can take a semi-intensive or extensive Dutch language course at the Institute for Dutch Language Education (INTT). This course will be 100% reimbursed after you pass the final exam of the course. Please note that only one course per student will be reimbursed and you can’t get credits for it. Check the step-by-step guide on how to apply.

Level B1 or higher (intermediate to advanced)

You can take a semi-intensive or extensive Dutch language course at the Institute for Dutch Language Education (INTT). This course will be completely reimbursed by UvA Economics and Business on the condition that you pass the final exam. Please note, only one course per student will be reimbursed and it’s not possible to get credits for this course. Check the step-by-step guide on how to apply.

  • I’m a Master’s student at UvA Economics and Business

As a Master student at UvA Economics and Business you can take a Dutch course at the Institute for Dutch Language Education (INTT). You need to choose between the semi-intensive or the extensive Dutch language course.

Your course will be 100% reimbursed by UvA Economics and Business if you pass the final exam. Only one course will be reimbursed and it’s not possible to get credits for the course you pass. Check the Step-by-step guide on how to apply for the course and reimbursement.
