Honours Programme

Honours Programme

The Faculty of Humanities offers an Honours programme for talented students who have the desire and ability to do more than a regular Bachelor’s programme. The Honours programme consists of 30 ECTS. This 30 ECTS workload is additional to the workload of the regular programme (180 ECTS). If you successfully complete the programme, this will be mentioned on the supplement of your Bachelor’s degree certificate.

Due to the coronavirus, the following temporary admission and graduation requirements will apply to the Faculty of Humanities Honours programme:

Admission requirements

For students from the 2019-2020 cohort (start Honours programme in 2020-2021) the admission requirements will be adjusted to:
30 ECTS of semester 1 obtained with a weighted average mark of 7.5 or higher.
If it is more favourable for a student, the regular admission requirements (60 ECTS of first year obtained with a weighted average mark of 7.5 or higher) may also apply.

Graduation requirements

For the cohorts below, the graduation requirement of having completed the Bachelor’s programme (including Honours programme) within the nominal duration will be adjusted to nominal + 1 year. There is no need to compensate this extra year with extra credits for the Honours programme. The other criteria as stated in the Teaching and Examination Regulations Part B, article 6.1, point 3 remain in effect.

  • Cohort 2017-2018, start Honours programme in 2018-2019 (third-year student in 2019-2020)
  • Cohort 2018-2019, start Honours programme in 2019-2020 (second-year student in 2019-2020)
  • Cohort 2019-2020, start Honours programme in 2020-2021 (first-year student in 2019-2020)

Information session

Due to the corona measures there will be no information session this year. The set-up and the honours courses the Faculty of Humanities offers will not change in the academic year 2020-2021. The video registration of the information session on 14 May 2019 still gives a good impression of the Honours programme. Should you have any questions after watching the video, please send an email to
