Last week, 1033 votes were cast by students and employees of the UvA. Read below which five ideas received the most votes and, as a result, secured a spot in the grand finale.

The five ideas that are still in the race:

 

1. "Everything is some kind of plot, man": A Critical Perspective on Conspiracy Theories (1146 points) by Leonie von Platen,
Bachelor's student Politics, Psychology, Law & Economics;

 

2. Decolonising our Future: Creating Solutions to Protect and Sustain the World (786 points) by Sara, Clara, Laura & Chris,
Research Master students International Development;

 

3. Managing your Finances (781 punten) van Andra Huidu, 
pre-master student Communication Science;

 

4. Conflict, Peace and Me (625 points), by Henry Kurze,
Bachelor's student Politics, Psychology, Law & Economics;

 

5. Corporate Autocracies & the Internet (603 points), by Barbora Bromová, Bachelor's student Politics, Psychology, Law & Economics.

The five ideas that did not make the cut:

  1. Patents, Power and Public Health: Access to Medicines in an Interdisciplinary Perspective (547 points) by Sarai Keestra;
  2. Sustain the Chain (475 points) by Jesse Kommandeur & Wouter Knibbe;
  3. Decolonising Yoga: Prospects for a Better Humanity (437 points) by Gionata Bouché;
  4. Another Type of Social Inclusion within the University Space (429 points) by Alina-Mihaela Olareanu & Ionita Irina-Maria;
  5. Thinking "Modernity" through Eight Everyday Objects (369 points) by Kristina Papadopoulou.
     

The grand finale

During the grand finale on 25 November from 5 – 7 PM (Central European Time) at the central hall of the E building on the UvA Roeterseiland campus, the jury decides which course idea will be rewarded with the realisation of the course. The winning course will be further developed by the IIS together with the student and offered as an elective course at the UvA next year.
