Duisenberg Honours programme in Corporate Finance and Banking

As part of the MSc Finance, excellent students can follow the challenging honours programme in Corporate Finance and Banking. This demanding programme is designed for top talents with outstanding analytical and leadership abilities and a fundamental drive to challenge their environment.

The Corporate Finance and Banking honours programme is based on cutting-edge learning in our knowledge in this field in addition to the best-practices methodology in corporate finance, banking and investment, commercial banking, and strategy consulting. Students will also learn how to challenge these best practices and when they need to  adapt as circumstances change.

The Duisenberg Honours programme has been integrated in the UvA’s MSc Finance programme, in the Corporate Finance and in the Banking track  (85 EC). This will consist of the following courses:

Semester 1:

  • Financial Markets (5 EC)
  • Valuation (5 EC)
  • Applied Financial Econometrics (5 EC)
  • Advanced Corporate Finance  (5 EC)
  • Derivatives  (5 EC) or Corporate Governance (5EC)
  • Banking  (5 EC)
  • Empirical methods in Finance  (5 EC)

Semester 2:

  • Financial Regulation or International Corporate Finance  (5 EC)
  • Fixed income and Risk management  (5 EC)
  • Behavioural Finance  (5 EC)
  • Finance seminar  (3 EC)
  • Ethics and professional skills (2 EC)
  • Thesis (15 EC)
  • Internship (15 EC, optional)

Based on the above, the programme for the two specialisations together must carry a minimum of 85 credits. Students only qualify for the honours programme if they satisfy the above criteria (except the internship) within one academic year and are enrolled for the internship before the end of the academic year.
