The UvA Alumni network for actuaries hosted a discussion event on the ‘Nieuwe Pensioenakkoord’ (new pension agreement) on 28 November at the Amsterdam Business School (ABS). This alumni event was for graduates of the ABS Postmaster Actuarial Practice Cycle (APC).

The keynote speakers, actuaries Stephan van Stalborch, Theo Kocken, Joanne Kellermann en Marike Knoef gave participants an opportunity to hear about and discuss the 10-year process of negotiations leading up to the agreement. A panel discussion held during the afternoon also led to some very interesting discussions on current challenges and positions in the actuarial profession.

Alumnus Stephan van Stalborch: 'It’s nice to be back at the university where I completed my actuarial programme. During the alumni event I gave a presentation on my role as an actuary in the negotiations and development of the pension agreement. I really enjoyed doing this and I was pleased by the questions and discussions from those attending the event. Also in the stage of further development it is important to remain critical and benefit from each other's expertise.'

Many of the alumni attending enjoyed the event, saying it met their expectations. The actuaries continued their discussions during drinks after the event.
