As a research field, creative industries has seen a sharp rise in prominence over the past 2 decades. For example, since 2002, 165 articles by 316 different authors have been published across 23 of the top 50 Financial Times (FT50) business journals. This growth is also mirrored by a sharp increase in the value of international trade in creative goods and services in the last two decades (UNCTAD, 2018).
