NOTE: Until accreditation is awarded, the full curriculum will be hosted by the accredited Tinbergen Institute research master. Read more here.
The programme offers three specialisations (tracks):
The three tracks have the same structure, institutions and regulations. All tracks provide access to a PhD track.
The first year of the research master offers rigorous training in data science. In the second year, students specialise in a chosen area through field course work and thesis research. Successful students have the option to continue as PhD candidates in the business departments of the University of Amsterdam, Erasmus University Rotterdam, and Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam, or at other institutions worldwide.
The programme’s first year: students complete core courses, field courses and a seminar series from the research faculty. These seminars allow students to explore potential supervisors and fields of specialisation. In the second year, students have to complete 30 ECTS of specialised coursework and write a thesis.
