On 9 and 11 November there’s an online course for UvA researchers who want to get acquainted with computer programming. The course takes two full working days and will be organized by the Library in collaboration with The Carpentries.

Event details of Git, Shell and R: an introduction to programming

During this course the following subjects will be covered:

  • Shell: search and manipulate files with the use of simple commands
  • Git: control versions of datasets, programming code etc.
  • Introduction to R: a programming language with many academic applications

No prior knowledge is required.

The Carpentries is a worldwide organization of researchers, programmers and knowledge workers who teach their colleagues data and software skills in a low threshold way.
