Sociology: Social Problems and Social Policy (MSc)

Social Problems and Social Policy is organised by the Graduate School of Social Sciences of the Faculty of Social and Behavioural Sciences at the University of Amsterdam.

The academic staff of this programme is actively involved in research within UvA's Amsterdam Institute of Social Science Research (AISSR).

dr. M.A. (Marguerite) van den Berg

Marguerite van den Berg

dr. M.A. (Marguerite) van den Berg is the Track Coordinator of Social Problems and Social Policy.

dr. M.A. (Marguerite) van den Berg has a number of research interests in and around sociology and gender. She is interested in the urban, gender and work. In particular, her current work focuses on precarization and precarity.

 

 

 

She has been a visiting scholar at the CUNY Graduate Center in New York City and at Humboldt University in Berlin. She teaches in the Sociology program of the University of Amsterdam, in particular the courses  Public Issues and Policy (MA) and Gender and Sex in the City (MA). 

Van den Berg currently works on a multi-method research project on dress workthe backstage labour of dressing the body for post-Fordist precarious urban labour markets. A website and blog about this project can be found here
