Business Administration (Amsterdam MBA)

'I started working in management consultancy several years ago. During the first eight years of my career in Iran, I was promoted from an assistant to a senior consultant. I then moved to Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia and worked for another 2 years there before I decided to join the Amsterdam Business School’s MBA programme. I felt I needed to refresh my academic background and gain a better understanding of the business world here in the west before pursuing a career in Europe.

I chose the ABS because of the professionalism of the lecturers and the way professors pay individual attention to students. This combination is very effective in the programme.

Another factor in my choice was the location of the ABS in Amsterdam. I was born and raised in Tehran, Iran, and in many aspects Amsterdam can be described as the complete opposite of where I grew up. Amsterdam is a very lively city with an international and diverse atmosphere.

The courses offered are well designed. Through using educational practice-based games and simulations, together with teamwork, learning takes place at a deeper and more effective level.

While I learned a great deal from ABS professors, the knowledge-sharing process that occurs among classmates is incredibly effective. And don’t forget the multinational mix of students that provides an opportunity to understand other cultures as well as enjoying the differences.

The professors are extremely knowledgeable and approachable. As I mentioned earlier, there is a great deal of contact with your professors which allows for more personal, specific development in the programme. This is reflected in the manner in which staff and professors approach students.

My career goals after obtaining an MBA will be to pursue my career in the west. I’ve worked as a management consultant for 10 years, and an MBA from the Amsterdam Business School helped me orient myself and gain the confidence and knowledge I need in a European business setting.'
