Please read all requirements carefully. In the online application you will be asked to upload proof of all mentioned requirements. Please note that some of this information no longer applies to applicants for the September 2020 intake due to the coronavirus situation.

Important information for applicants for the September 2020 intake

We are aware of the difficulties that might occur in your application process due to the Coronavirus. If you want to apply for the September 2020 intake, find all specific changes for the English profiency test, and GMAT/GRE requirement on this page. 

1. Academic Bachelor's degree

Applicants holding an academic Bachelor's or Master’s degree in Finance, or a degree in (Business) Economics or Business Administration with a specialisation in Finance or Real Estate Finance.

Eligible candidates must have at least 15 ECTS of Finance-related courses and proven knowledge of the following topics at an intermediate level:

  • Investments
  • Corporate Finance
  • Derivatives
  • Econometrics

Additionally, knowledge of accounting, macroeconomics and microeconomics will be highly beneficial.

Extra information
A Bachelor's degree from a university of applied sciences or a  Fachhochschule (Germany) will not be taken into consideration. Specific entry requirements apply to students with an AfricanChinese. or Indian Bachelor's degree. In the event that your previous education does not fulfill this program’s requirements, you may wish to consider applying for a master-qualifying program at the Cambridge Education Group.

2.  English language proficiency

We require evidence of English language proficiency:

  • TOEFL IBT92 points overall and 22 points for each sub-score (TOEFL institution code: 9011)
  • IELTS (Academic test): 6,5 Overall and 6,0 for each sub-score
  • Cambridge Assessment English 
    • Certificate in Advanced English:  170 Points Overall and in each skill
    • Certificate of Proficiency in English: 170 Points Overall and in each skill

Test scores must also conform to the following guidelines:

  • An official and sufficient English proficiency test score must be received by the application deadline
  • If you do not provide a sufficient English proficiency test score before the application deadline, you must have an English proficiency test scheduled for a date which is before the application deadline
  • Your English proficiency test score may not be more than 2 years old with respect to the start date of your programme. For example, if you're applying for the September 2020 intake we don't accept English proficiency tests taken before September 2018

Be sure to plan your test on time; test dates fill quickly and it can take several weeks for you to receive your results. Applications without a sufficient score or with a test date after the application deadline, will not be accepted.


You have obtained your Bachelor's degree in one of the following countries: The Netherlands, Australia, Canada (with the exception of Quebec), Ireland, Malta, New Zealand, South Africa, United Kingdom, United States of America.


All applicants need to take a GMAT test before the application deadline in order to be considered for the Master’s programme. So please start planning your test date on time. Applicants are expected to achieve a score of 640 on their GMAT. If you do not achieve the expected score your application will still be considered. However, a minimum score of 620 is required. Applicants who submit a GMAT below this minimum score will not be accepted into this programme. Please note that completion of all sections of the exam is required.

Based on mutual agreements with certain universities, students might be exempted from the GMAT requirement. Check the list of universities to see whether this applies to you


In place of a GMAT, a GRE test score may be accepted in the following cases:

  • if you have already obtained a GRE score
  • if it is difficult to take the GMAT test on a short notice in your country (e.g. Suriname)

A score of 158 is expected from applicants for this program in the Quantitative Reasoning section. If you do not achieve the expected score your application will still be considered. However, a minimum score of 155 is required. Applicants who submit a GRE below this minimum score will not be accepted into this programme. If you do not meet at least the minimum score you may still retake your GRE as long as the test date is before the 1st of April deadline. Please note that completion of all sections of the exam is required

4.   Motivation and initiative

Applicants are expected to have the intrinsic motivation to build upon this knowledge. Coursework is designed in keeping with this expectation and demands significant personal initiative and an active contribution on the part of the student. Applicants are asked to upload a motivation letter in their online application.

5. Academic referee

Applicants are expected to invite at least one academic referee to submit their reference online. In the online application you need to fill out the contactdetails of the referee. Please make sure that your referee has agreed to write a recommendation before you register the referee's details. Your references should refer to your academic experience (e.g. coming from a former teacher).
