  • Profile

I am an Assistant Professor at ASCA. I am also a recipient of a Starting Grant from the European Research Council, in which I will be leading a team of researchers - as a Principal Investigator - to study the networks of Yoruba Print Culture..  My book, "African Literature in the Digital Age", is published by James Currey, an imprint of Boydell & Brewer. You can purchase your copy in advance  via Amazon UK.

More information about the book is at this link.  I am a co-editor of a scholarly peer-reviewed project Digital Africas -  I am also working on a second book, which builds on the first monograph. This  will be a study on class consciousness in Nigeria, as it theorizes the intersectional links between class, gender, sexuality and politics, as well as examines the representation of these links in a variety of literary and performing arts genres. I was previously a lecturer and researcher at the University of Bremen, a postdoctoral researcher in African literature at the University of Bayreuth (2013-15), and Vice-Chancellor Postdoctoral Fellow at University of Leeds (2012-13) I have a PhD in literature from the University of Birmingham, UK, and a postgraduate diploma in journalism from the University of Westminster, London, UK (Class of 2002). I am the publisher and editor of The New Black Magazine. As a journalist, I have worked in various capacities for organisations such as BBC News Online, The Guardian (UK), The Times Higher, The Times Educational Supplement, Jobs.ac.uk, The Independent (UK) and The Christian Science Monitor.
