Emma Cohen de Lara (PhD University of Notre Dame) is senior docent politieke theorieën en tutor aan het Amsterdam University College. Daarnaast is ze onderzoekslid van de Amsterdam Institute of Social Science Research (www.aissr.nl). Hiervoor heeft ze gewerkt aan de VU Universiteit Amsterdam en aan de Universiteit van Vermont. Ze heeft haar master titels behaald aan de London School of Economics en Universiteit Leiden.
Emma's onderzoek betreft de antieke politieke theorie. Een recente publicatie is een geredigeerde bundel voor het Thijmgenootschap over Plato en de Sofisten: Een Spiegel voor onze Tijd (2020). Daarnaast neemt ze actief deel aan onderzoek en discussies over liberal arts and sciences education. Onderwijs
Emma Cohen de Lara doceert het vak Classical and Modern Political Thought dat studenten introduceert in de grote denkers van de westerse en niet-westerse traditie. Ze geeft ook Ancient Philosophical Texts over de klassieke rhetorica, en heeft eerder Politics of Modernity en Political Shakespeare gegeven. Ze begeleidt bachelor scripties over politieke theorieën, burgerschap, democratie, en onderwijs.
