Noyonika’s doctoral dissertation examines the ways in which political parties build electoral control coercively. The thesis explores the many violent strategies employed by political parties to manipulate electoral outcomes and to consolidate partisan control. Noyonika draws on both quantitative and qualtitatative research methods to understand violent forms partisan mobilization and demobilization. The study aims to contribute to the research on local politics and decentralization by providing a systematic account of violence during local elections.
