    Laura Jacobs is verbonden als postdoctoraal onderzoeker aan het Departement voor Politieke Communicatie en Journalisme aan de Amsterdam School for Communication Research (ASCoR). Ze werkt op het VIDI project van Dr. Joost van Spanje 'Defending or Damaging Democracy’ which focuses on the effects of legal action against anti-immigrant parties'.

    Voordien werkte Laura aan het Centrum voor Politicologie van de KU Leuven, waar ze haar doctoraat in de Sociale Wetenschappen behaalde in juni 2017. Haar thesis onderzocht de rol van immigratienieuws als een contextuele factor voor voordelen en intergroup conflict.

    Naast haar doctoraat was Laura ook medewerker bij het Steunpunt Media, een samenwerkingsverband tussen Vlaamse universiteit die beleidsgericht onderzoek verrichten voor het ministerie van media. In 2017 werkte Laura eveneens als postdoctoraal onderzoeker in het Belgische team verantwoordelijk voor het veld werd van de European Social Survey (ESS) aan het Centrum voor Sociologie van de KU Leuven.

    Laura behaalde een Bachelor in Politieke Wetenschappen aan de Universiteit van Antwerpen (2010), en een Master in de Internationale Betrekkingen van Universiteit Gent (2011). Haar interesses betreffen anti-immigrantenpartijen, populisme, media effecten en intergroups relaties. De gebruikte methodologie spitst zich vooral toe op inhoudsanalyse van mediaberichtgeving en experimenteel onderzoek.
