    Dr. Matthijs Jonker (Amsterdam, 1982) studied Philosophy and Art History at the University of Amsterdam and at the University of Pisa. He obtained his PhD in December 2017 at the University of Amsterdam. The title of his dissertation is The Academization of Art. A Practice Approach to the Early Histories of the Accademia del Disegno and the Accademia di San Luca. The supervisors are prof. dr. B. Kempers, dr. A. Witte and prof. dr. M. Stokhof.     For his dissertation Matthijs received the Ted Meijerprijs 2018 from the Royal Netherlands Institute in Rome. The Ted Meijerprijs is awarded each year for the best dissertation in the humanities in relation to Italy and especially Rome. The award allows Matthijs to spend three months in Rome to prepare a proposal for a postdoc research project in the field of early modern and postcolonial history and philosophy of science.
