  • Profile

Since September 2015, I work as a PhD candidate in the Transnational Configurations, Conflict and Governance programme group in the Political Science department. My PhD reserach focuses on comtemporary social movements and protest in Amsterdam and other European cities. More specifically, I am focusing on the 'We Are Here' group: an activist collective of undocumented people (and local supporters), currently residing in several locations in Amsterdam, who are fighting for a place to stay. My aim is to understand how such collectives on the one hand establish relationships with local, representative political actors, and on the other hand develop a strong sense of self-organisation. I use a qualitative methodology and aim for an international comparative case study design. More broadly, I am interested in urban democracy and -protest, self-organization, prefiguration and changes in civil society organization.

I also work (since 2010) as a junior lecturer in the Interdisciplinary Social Sciences bachelor where I teach (and have taught) various courses. Currently I am involved in the following courses:

    Visies op Moderniteit

    Macht en Bestuur

    Bachelorscriptie ASW

Since 2012, I am also a member of the board of examiners of the Interdisciplinary Social Sciences bachelor.
