Ulrike Popp-Baier has studied Psychology, Philosophy and History of German Literature at the University of Erlangen-Nürnberg. She completed her Ph.D. in 1988 and obtained her Habilitation in Psychology in 1996. She is Associate Professor of Psychology of Religion at the University of Amsterdam and Privatdozentin of Psychology at the University of Erlangen-Nürnberg. Her current work includes research on theory and methodology in the social scientific study of religion, theoretical psychology, qualitative research in psycholoy of religion, biography and religion. She is the coordinator of the Research Master Religious Studies and one of the co-coordinators of the Master Religious Studies.
