Lieke Schrijvers is lecturer in religious studies in the Department of History, European Studies and Religious Studies at the University of Amsterdam.
Schrijvers is finalizing her PhD dissertation with the title: 'Questioning the Conversion Paradox: Gender, Sexuality, and Belonging amongst Women Becoming Jewish, Christian, and Muslim in the Netherlands.' This is a comparative ethnographic study of women's conversion from a religious studies and gender studies perspective. The PhD is a joint doctorate at Utrecht University and Ghent University. Before starting her dissertation, Schrijvers graduated from the researchmaster Gender and Ethnicity at Utrecht University. Her research mainly focuses on the intersections of religion, the secular, gender and sexuality from an anthropological ('lived religion') approach.
