Get acquainted with the theory and methods of social, clinical, work and organisational psychology. You will also follow a trainer's tutorial, where you will put your learning into practice. This will help you develop into a skilled trainer who can be used in a wide range of situations. Finally, you will complete an internship and write a Master's thesis. The Dutch track starts in September and February. The English track starts in September only.
  • Master's thesis

You will write a Master's thesis which you conduct independent research on a topic relevant to your work as a trainer. You will also take the Applying Research Methods course. This course provides you with the tools to write your Master's thesis. You will learn which research methods you can use, for example, to measure the impact of your training.

  • Internship

After the trainer's tutorial, you will do an internship as a psychologist trainer at the UvA. This gives you direct practical experience. You will supervise two practical training sessions during the Practical Training Psychological Communication (PTPC) for second-year students. You will be in charge of the lessons (including preparation), communication with the participants, and the evaluation. You will focus on professional and personal communication skills. English will likely be the working language.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ's)
  • Am I able to train after this programme?

This Master's track is really focused on facilitating group processes, not individual 1:1 coaching. Although you will learn communication skills and could coach a team well after this Master's track, it is not a specific coaching programme. So if you are interested in coaching individuals specifically, this track is less suitable.
