The minor Catalan in a European Context aims to give students a basic level of Catalan language in order to use it in different communicative situations.
The minor in Catalan in a European Context teaches you a basic level of the Catalan language. Selections of texts and audiovisual material will be studied to acquire general speaking, reading and listening comprehension, which will be used as a basis for an analysis of the distinctive traits of the Catalan culture. You will acquire knowledge about the historical, cultural and social context in which the Catalan language is spoken and created.
In the second semester, you will take a course about (autochtonous) minority groups in Europe. The course is also part of the Minor in Frisian and special attention will therefore be paid to both languages and situations.
This minor is offered by the Faculty of Humanities. The faculty’s minors consist of 30 ECTS credits and earn you a second qualification that will be listed on the transcript accompanying your degree certificate.
