The Job Market

As a Religious Studies graduate, you will have developed analytical and research skills relevant to a career in the field of religious studies. In addition, you will have access to a range of other employment opportunities in which a critical, curious, and academically-trained mind is essential.

You will qualify for high-level research positions at universities, research and development departments of governmental institutes, and for research positions in non-governmental organizations (NGOs). You will be able to pursue careers in science communication, science publishing, science policy and in public policy and consultancy or as an independent researcher.

An academic career

The Research Master's programme Religious Studies also provides a valuable foundation for those students who wish to pursue and complete a PhD programme in the Humanities or the Social Sciences at any university in the world.

Your diploma is not a farewell

After graduating, you don't have to say goodbye to the University of Amsterdam! We are happy to help you develop your career. You can join the young alumni programme, which will assist you in mapping out your career. And as an alumnus, you can also still use the Student Careers Centre.
