2022 marks the 100-year anniversary of the Irish Civil war and the creation of the Irish Free State. The film looks at it through a prism of two brothers who end up on the opposite sides of the conflict. Starring  Cillian Murphy on the eve of his international breakthrough.

Alan van Rijn will enlighten us on the historical accuracy and the echoes of the conflict still felt a century later.

UvA librarian and cinephile Marko Petrovic will give a short talk about the legendary left wing director Ken Loach and a bit of trivia about the film.
