Dr C. Lucas (1951) has been named professor by special appointment of Evidence Based Practice at the University of Amsterdam’s Faculty of Medicine (AMC-UvA). The chair was designated on behalf of the Amsterdam University of Applied Sciences Foundation (AUAS/HvA - Stichting Hogeschool van Amsterdam).

Cees Lucas conducts research within the focus areas of clinical epidemiology, clinimetrics, research methodology and biostatistics. He has specific expertise in the area of Evidence Based Practice in health care. More specifically, Lucas conducts research on ‘evidence-based care’, whereby scientific information serves as a basis for the clinical practice. The knowledge acquired through this research contributes to scientific evidence in the area of diagnostics, treatment, prognosis and disease prevention.

Lucas works at the AMC-UvA as a clinical epidemiologist and senior university lecturer and is head of the academic Master's programme in Evidence Based Practice (AMC-UvA). He serves in various advisory positions, including a position as external consultant at Enraf-Nonius, a company specialised in the development of innovative products and services for movement specialists in the field of physiotherapy and rehabilitation medicine. Lucas maintains his clinical skills by working as a Registered Primary Care Physiotherapist in his physiotherapy practice in Nieuw-Vennep.
