What is the place of the Netherlands in the 21st century? Globalisation, European integration, the colonial heritage and criticisms on the ruthless Western exploitation of the planet challenge us to rethink the Dutch past. The team of Dutch History forms a focal point for the exchange between the academic study history and the societal discussion about these questions. On the basis of innovative historical research into the transnational history of the Netherlands our researchers participate in the discussion about actual societal challenges and diverse historical perspectives.
