Before starting PhD program, I worked as a clinical psychologist in Tehran, Iran diagnosing and treating clients in hospitals, private and public clinics implementing CBT and psychodrama among others. The PhD research is focused on comparing the effectiveness of pschodrama and CBGT in treatment of social anxiety disorder under the supervision of proffessor Arnoud Arntz and dr Corine Dijk. Cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) is the most effective psychological treatment for social anxiety disorder (SAD). Nevertheless, many patients with SAD fail to respond adequately and are still symptomatic after treatment. Psychodrama is a therapeutic method that helps patients to dramatize their psychological and social problems by role-playing, rather than just talking about them. Psychodrama and CBT are often seen as complementary. The PhD research aims to compare CBT, psychodrama and their combination in group format as treatments for SAD and compare them to a waitlist condition in a randomized controlled trial. This study conducts in adults with SAD in Tehran, the capital of Iran.
