Marc W. Heerdink is an Assistant Professor in the Social Psychology department of the University of Amsterdam, and part of Emotions As Social Information lab (EASI lab).

Research Interests

Marc's research focuses on understanding the interplay between emotional behavior and group dynamics. The majority of his research is concerned with emotional influence within groups, and specifically how emotional influence shapes both convergence (e.g., conformity, norm transmission) and divergence (dissent, arguing) processes within and between groups. A second major line of research investigates how group performance (e.g., sports teams, student teams) is shaped by collective affective processes. Further research interests include the development and consequences of group hierarchy, and emotional processes in immoral behavior.
