Liza Mügge (née Liza Nell) is associate professor at the political science department and director of the Amsterdam Research Center for Gender and Sexuality at the UvA. She is founding co-editor and lead editor of the European Journal of Politics and Gender.

 

Her research focuses on political representation, intersectionality and equality of ethnic minorities and women in Europe. She received the highly competitive Veni grant (2013) from the NWO (Netherlands Organization for Scientific Research) and NWO Vidi grant  (2017). In addition, she is an affiliated researcher of the Open Research Area-funded project Pathways to Power: The Political Representation of Citizens of Immigrant Origin in Seven European Democracies (PATHWAYS).

 

Liza was residential fellow with Netherlands Institute for Advanced Study in the Humanities and Social Sciences (2016-2017), the Women and Public Policy Program at the Harvard Kennedy School (2014-2015) and visiting scholar at the Minda de Gunzburg Center for European Studies at Harvard University (January-June 2012). She is past co-convenor of the Standing Group Gender & Politics of the European Consortium for Political Research (ECPR) (2013-2016).

 

Liza serves on the board of the Stichting fonds Catharina van Tussenbroek (a foundation to support international mobility of early career female researchers), the Netherlands Research School of Genderstudies and the Institute for Migration and Ethnic Studies (IMES). She is editorial advisory board member of Migration Letters and Kurdish Studies.
