Are you developing a website or application? It should, of course, comply with the UvA corporate identity. But that’s not all. We want to provide visitors with a consistent and high-quality user experience online, without reinventing the wheel for every application. That’s why the UvA has defined reusable components in a design system.

Always follow the basic corporate identity guidelines

Always follow the established guidelines for:

  • logo
  • fonts
  • colours
  • icons
  • imagery

Use the design system

Are you building or commissioning a website or application? Or are you using a SaaS solution with a customisable front end? Use the UvA design system components.

The full design system is available in Figma. The corporate identity coordinator can give you access.

Limited customisation

Sometimes you cannot fully customise a SaaS application. However, you can often apply part of the corporate identity through configuration options or custom CSS. Consult the corporate identity coordinator about the best way to comply with the corporate identity in your situation.

Also consider other guidelines

When creating your website or application, also pay attention to:

  • Imagery: follow the UvA visual identity guidelines.
  • Text: follow the writing guide and editorial policy.
  • Accessibility: design, build and write according to the WCAG guidelines. This is a legal requirement. The components in the design system comply with these guidelines.
  • Technology, security and privacy: consult your information manager about these aspects.
