Open Campus Day: Mini Lecture Rapid detection of street drugs
Can drugs be identified on the street in just a few seconds? Every year, more than 25,000 items of seized evidence in the Netherlands are analysed in laboratories for the presence of drugs—a complex, costly and time-consuming process. But what if police officers and other professionals could carry out this analysis on the spot, within seconds and without any chemistry knowledge? In this mini lecture, we show you why this is possible. And of course, you can try it yourself: can you spot the ecstasy pill among the “innocent” painkillers?
