At the UvA, studying classics means constantly gaining new insights into the classical past and its role in shaping our cultural identity through the ages. The Classics department specialises in the Greek and Latin languages, as well as the literature and culture of Classical Antiquity itself, whilst continually keeping sight of the development of classical discourse over time. At the UvA classics form a means with which to challenge students into reconsidering the significance of their cultural past and its relation to the present.
