Milan is Associate Professor in the Political Economy of Finance in the Political Economy and Transnational Governance (PETGOV) programme group. His research deals with the transition of the global political economy towards a post-neoliberal global order. He specifically works on the political economy of decarbonization, green finance and geoeconomics.
Milan is Principal Investigator of the Veni Project 'Decarbonization under geopolitical distress' (funded by the Dutch Research Council, NWO) as well as of the DECARB Project (funded by the Independent Research Fund Denmark). He also holds an Early Career Fellowship from the Independent Social Research Foundation (ISRF).
Milan is currently serving as editor at the Review for International Political Economy (2026-29). He is also a co-founder and organizer of the Geoeconomics Network (V) at the Society for the Advancement of Socio-Economics (SASE).
Previously, Milan was an Assistant Professor of Global Political Economy at Roskilde University and worked as a postdoctoral researcher at Maastricht University.
