Abdollah Hasb is a lecturer in Arabic Language and Culture at the University of Amsterdam. His academic interests include Classical Arabic poetry, Classical Arabic as a religious source language, and Modern Egyptian literature. He teaches courses in Arabic language proficiency, with a particular focus on bridging linguistic form and cultural context.
Within the BA Arabic Language and Culture, he teaches Taalvaardigheid Arabisch (modules 1–3), Arabisch Communiceren, and Arabisch in Context. For European Studies, he coordinates and teaches Arabic 1–3.
Beyond his teaching at the UvA, Abdollah serves as an assessor of Arabic literary translations for the Dutch Foundation for Literature (Nederlands Letterenfonds). He also teaches at the International University of Applied Sciences in Amsterdam (IUA), where he has served as chair of the Participation Council, now member of the Examination Board, and lecturer in Arabic, grammatical analysis of Islamic source texts, research methodology, and testing and assessment.
He is additionally involved as a co-author for the forthcoming Van Dale Arabic–Dutch dictionary project.
