My research explores how people perceive and evaluate society and politics, with a focus on the Dutch context. I examine themes such as the functioning of government, social cohesion, and political (re)cognition – essential conditions for a resilient society and a well-functioning democracy. I study how these conditions can be sustained and strengthened. Key topics include institutional and social trust; civic, political, and social participation; cleavages in attitudes and values; and the extent to which people feel seen, heard, and represented.
