  • About

Maja Sisnowski is a PhD candidate at the University of Amsterdam. In her doctoral research, she uses ethnographic methods to study how de-escalation is practised, trained and mandated in German health and social welfare services. Conceptualizing de-escalation as a travelling technology, she is interested in how bodies, contexts and difference come to matter in these practices.

Maja Sisnowski studied Social- and Cultural Anthropology and Philosophy at Freie Universität Berlin, and completed a Master in Social Sciences at the University of Amsterdam. Her research interests move in the fields of feminist science and technology studies, disability studies, ethnography and medical anthropology.
