Are you a student of the Master's in Actuarial Science and Risk Analytics and do you have a record of academic excellence, a critical mind and an enthusiasm for applied research? Then this Honours programme is a great opportunity for you.
The Honours programme is your chance to gain knowledge at the highest level and practise applied research skills on top of your chosen Master's in Actuarial Science and Risk Analytics. If you are driven and prepared to put in the extra work, this programme is a rewarding addition to your curriculum. It’s a chance to stand out to future employers.
As an actuary, you may work on questions like this: natural disasters are becoming more frequent and more severe, which creates a significant challenge for the insurance industry. How do insurance companies calculate the financial risk of these changing patterns? You work with real data on floods and storms, analyse past damage and build statistical models to predict future damage. Using advanced statistical techniques and stochastic models, you create a report showing how climate change affects the reserves insurance companies need to set aside. This is the type of analysis you will do in your career as an actuary.
You take the Actuarial Science and Risk Analytics Honours programme (15 ECTS) alongside your 1-year Master's in Actuarial Science and Risk Analytics. The Honours programme adds 2 extra courses and a research project to your Master's.
Solve a business case and present your results to your fellow students. One of our senior researchers will provide support to the team as you solve your business case.
The Honours programme is selective and only available to (approximately) 10 highly motivated students of our Master's Actuarial Science and Risk Analytics.
