This track combines theory and practice: you engage with advanced theoretical concepts (questioning standard notions of rationality, studying evolutionary game theory and exploring cognitive biases) while also getting hands-on experience designing and running your own experiments. Courses such as Experimental Economics take you into the lab, where you practise both laboratory and field experimentation around real economic questions. The programme culminates in an independent thesis in which you develop your own research question and answer it, combining theoretical rigour with original empirical work.

You will develop an advanced understanding of human decision making, which offers opportunities for careers in business and marketing as well as policymaking and research. You develop practical skills by conducting experiments and connecting theory to real-world problems, skills that translate directly into roles in consulting, policy, finance and research. By the time you complete your thesis, you will have experienced the full research cycle, from formulating a question and collecting data to drawing conclusions that hold up to scrutiny, giving you a tangible portfolio of work to bring to employers. 

The Advanced Game Theory course is analytically demanding by design: it pushes you into complex strategic reasoning well beyond what most students have encountered before.
