Anne C. Kroon (PhD, 2017, University of Amsterdam) is an Assistant Professor of Corporate Communication at the Department of Communication Science at the University of Amsterdam. She is affiliated with ASCoR, the Program Group Corporate Communication, Computational Communication Science Amsterdam, and the EU-funded OPTED project. In addition, she fulfills a coordinating role in the PDI-SSH funded digital infrastructure project TwiXL, and acts as a PhD supervisor on the ERC project NEWSFLOWS.
Computational social science techniques are at the forefront of Anne’s research and teaching. In her research, she focuses on (1) the role of algorithms in recruitment and hiring as a means to address bias, and (2) the content and consequences of (biased) representations of minorities in media content. With regards to teaching and supervision, Anne enjoys transferring her knowledge on computational techniques in seminars about big data and automation.
