I am a postdoc researcher at the Department of Geography, Planning and International Development Studies of the University of Amsterdam. More particularly, within the programme group Urban Geography. Prior to joining the UvA, I was a PhD candidate at the University of Groningen, where I completed my doctoral thesis titled "Politics out of place".
My research interests mainly span the fields of political geography and sociology. I am particularly interested in urban-rural divides, political polarisation and agri-food transitions. Currently, I am involved in the research project 'Proteinscapes', in which together with colleagues I am investigating the political geography of meat and dairy in the EU. In doing so, I combine quantitative and qualitative methods, including regression analysis, GIS, discourse analysis and ethnographic fieldwork in rural communities.
Keywords: urban-rural divide, rural discontent, agri-food transitions, protein transition, meat consumption
