There are various grants available to support your research, attend conferences, or pursue an academic career after completing your PhD.
The Research Connect database from the University Library contains listings of grants, subsidies and awards. Access is available with your UvAnetID.
Some faculties reimburse costs related to fieldwork, conferences, academic literature, or printing.
At the Amsterdam UMC, you may be eligible for a PhD bonus if you complete your thesis within the required time frame (as per the UMC collective labour agreement).
In some cases, the UvA charges tuition fees for PhD candidates who are not employed by the university. If applicable, this will be clearly stated on the website of the relevant faculty or research institute.
Please note: The UvA does not provide tax advice. For questions, contact the BelastingTelefoon (0800-0543), Stichting Belastingwinkel Amsterdam, or hire a tax adviser (at your own expense).
Your faculty offers training and courses in your academic field, career development, academic and non-academic skills, and transferable skills.
Supervisors and promotors also receive training to help them guide you effectively. As a PhD candidate, you will likely attend conferences in your discipline as well.
