Executive Board

The Executive Board is charged with the general management of the University of Amsterdam (UvA) and the Amsterdam University of Applied Sciences (AUAS). The two institutions are governed by this joint Board, which is the result of a staff merger. The Executive Board is responsible for the efficient management of both universities.

The members of the Executive Board are appointed, suspended and dismissed by the Supervisory Boards of the UvA and the AUAS. They enter into employment at one of these two legal entities, but when they are appointed - within the framework of the close cooperation between the two universities - they are also empowered to lead the other legal entity. The Executive Board consists of four members. The Dutch Minister of Education, Culture and Science previously granted permission to deviate from the provisions of Article 10.2 of the Dutch Higher Education and Research Act (WHW) regarding a statutory three-member board.

The new Executive Board will take office on 1 June.
